The overall objective of the project was to collaborate on the establishment of the bases and actions to facilitate development and implementation of common policies regarding the establishment of a Central American Customs Union.
The project consisted in developing a tailor-made advanced training programme on European integration focused on EU customs policy. The programme was specially designed for civil servants (experts on customs and taxation) coming from five Central American countries – Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua – that are members of SIECA (Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration).
The programme covered the main issues of customs, trade and competition policies as well as European integration, the Internal Market and the relations between the EU and Central America.
