Consolidation and Codification of EC Law (1991-2008)

Since 1991 the College of Europe has been involved in the process of codification of EC law, in close co-operation with the Legal Service of the European Commission. The process of codification is the bringing together of a basic piece of legislation and all its amendments in a single new act which repeals the acts to be codified without however changing the substance of this legislation. Under the current contract (with the Legal Service of the European Communities), a team of 50 researchers, four legal coordinators, a legal manager and a programme manager is working on legal texts in all official languages of the EU.
