Programme
The conferences were structured in two parts: at first the speakers presented an overview of their respective countries’ historical, cultural and geopolitical characteristics. The second half of the presentation was devoted to analyse the consequences of their accession to the European Union and the long-term implications, both for the EU and for the new Member-State.
The conferences gave rise to highly participatory and lively debates between the audience and the speakers.
To complement and update the overview of the situation of the EU after enlargement an additional conference was organised in May 2004. It focused on the work of the Convention for the Future of Europe and the innovations brought in by the draft Constitutional Treaty.
