The College is a high-level academic research institution and the Political and Administrative Studies Department is one of the most active in this respect. In addition to editing the College of Europe’s academic journal Collegium, the department conducts its own research activities which have resulted in a working papers series, the Bruges Political Research Papers and books.

The Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies is engaged in research activities culminating in external and in-house publications, books, articles and policy contributions. It also edits three online paper series: The EU Diplomacy Papers are dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of the European Union’s external relations and external aspects of EU internal policies. The Bruges Regional Integration & Global Governance Papers, co-published with UNU-CRIS, study the European Union and other forms of regionalism or interregionalism from a comparative perspective as well as the role of regional organisations in global governance. In addition, the InBev-Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations regularly issues the electronic journal EU-China Observer which provides a platform for scholars and practitioners interested in exchanging ideas on current topics of EU-Chinese relations.

The Economics Department has two series of working papers. The Bruges European Economic Policy briefings (BEEP) and the Bruges European Economic Research Papers (BEER). The BEEP briefings are policy-oriented economic papers which deal with important European issues. The BEER papers are research-oriented, are often much longer than the BEEP briefings and more technical in nature (e.g. econometric, modelling, simulation). The target group of the BEER papers are mainly professors and other academic economists interested in economic research on the EU. » more
